Abstract(in English) The pixel density of display devices are improving, and the importance of the resolution as a criteria to determine the image quality has increased. In recent years, reconstruction-based super-resolution techniques that do not require a prior learning at the time of the super-resolution have been attracting attention. The iterative back-projection (IBP) is an efficient reconstruction-based super-resolution method, and in its algorithm, an interpolation filter is applied iteratively to enhance image definition. Although interpolation performance in the IBP method is very important, very few studies have focused on improving interpolation performance. In this paper, we propose a novel IBP method having directional interpolation to enhance super-resolution quality of the IBP method. Experimental results obtained by applying proposed method and the baseline IBP method to various test images support that image super-resolution performance of proposed method outperforms that of the baseline IBP method.
