Abstract(in English) | To establish a virtual dedicated channel for area owner's wireless local area network (WLAN) systems, a virtual dedicated channel scheme using periodic medium reservation has been proposed. In the scheme, guard stations spatially distributed in the private space send network allocation vector (NAV) frames periodically. Periodic NAV frames notify the medium reservation period to the visitor's BSS (Basic Service Set), and the visitor's BSSs that overhear NAV frames defer the access to the medium. This scheme prevents the access from visitor's BSS, and the area owner can occupy a certain amount of radio resources. However, because of the vulnerable and unpredictable propagation of wireless signal, the transmitted NAV frames propagates throughout the private space and spills over to the outside of the private space. Excessive propagation of NAV frames will interfere third-party BSSs existing outside the private space. To discuss the appropriate transmission power of NAV frame, this paper mathematically analyzes the effect of transmission power of NAV frame on the performances of area-owner's and third-parties' BSSs using virtual dedicated channel scheme. |
