Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We measured the muscle activity during swallowing of food using sheet type electromyography electrodes. During these measurements, it was found that a subject’s repetition of the same amount of swallowing of the same food produced variations in the swallowing each time. In this study, we investigated the influence of changes in the swallowing position and intensity on the measured electromyogram when swallowing water. By specifying the manner in which food was held in the mouth or ingested, it was found that the variance in the activity time of the deglutition muscles could be suppressed.
