Abstract(in English) In this paper, parametric studies and evaluation results of a planar small monopole antenna for Ultra-wideband (UWB) system is reported. The proposed antenna consist of a half bell-shaped UWB printed monopole with short stub for miniaturization. The proposed antenna has a compact volume of 20×28×1.6mm3 using FR-4 dielectric substrate. The antenna impedance matching can be realized by the short stub structure, and the wideband characteristics of the antenna is obtained in the operating frequency band of the UWB system. It has been confirmed that the almost same characteristics of the conventional bell-shaped UWB monopole antenna can be realized even when the antenna has a half shape.
