Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study explored how gaze patterns differ between a novice and an expert of ECEC staff at a nursery by using a wearable eyetracker (Tobii Pro Glasses 2). Gaze patterns were counted as whether the staff looked at the children’s faces or non-face zones. The results revealed that the novice staff was likely to gaze at the children’s faces, whilst the expert staff was less likely to. Rather, the expert staff more frequently looked at the non-face zone than the novice staff. It may be possible that the more experience nursing they have, the more they looked at the broader range of the area, not restricting looking to the children’s faces. Our results may offer further understanding of how ECEC staff become more proficient.
