[Invited Talk] A Battery Management System for Wireless Sensor Devices

Abstract(in English) It would be important to observe battery state of charge at each IoT device accurately even with small circuit area and low-power consumption in order to maintain system or service operation stably and continuously while handling huge amount of IoT devices. Measuring consumed coulomb count of device and/or internal impedance of battery accurately is required to observe battery state of charge. In this paper, we introduce an intermittently enabled coulomb counter that can reduce power consumption by 93% compared to conventional coulomb counter even with maintaining measurement accuracy, and measuring internal impedance of battery using pulse shaped input current that can eliminate AC current source and sample-hold circuit, which are conventionally required.
