Core position analysis/control for fabricating polymer optical waveguides in the Mosquito method for low-loss light coupling

Abstract(in English) For further advancement of high performance computers, multimode polymer optical waveguides are drawing much attention as a candidate medium for on-board optical interconnects. In the Mosquito method which we have developed as a fabrication method for polymer optical waveguides, a wide variety of waveguide structures can be formed, and 3-dimensional wiring is expected to be realized. In this report, we theoretically investigate how to control the core vertical position during the fabrication process of the Mosquito method. In addition, we focus on the optical coupling via a 45-degree mirror on one end, and experimentally demonstrate the effect of the core height on the optical coupling efficiency via a 45-degree mirror.
