Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Folktale is one of the oldest media found universally across cultures, conveying cultural traditions and adaptive knowledge to thrive (e.g. folk-zoological knowledge). In this study, we systematically investigate folk-zoological knowledge imbedded in folktales. With text-mining method, we analyzed summaries of animal tales in international type index of folktales (ATU: Aarne?Thompson?Uther type index). Through a series of analysis, we would discuss potential advantages of introducing natural language processing in humanities and social science.
