| Abstract(in English) | This study tested two major views on morphological-level of generalization?similarity-based and rule-based generalizations. The similarity-based account assumes that novel verbs conjugate according to the similarity to the most frequent type of real verbs. In contrast, the rule-based account assumes that a rule is applied to novel verbs. Since these views have not yet been tested well in Japanese, this study tested them through the web-based volitional form production task for novel verbs in first- (L1) and second-language (L2) Japanese. |
