Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To understand the visuomotor system underlying eye movements induced by motion of the images covering wide visual field, we carried out eye movement recordings and constructed a control theory model of the ocular responses. The model consists of dual pathways: one inducing a transient response and the other a sustained response. Assuming different spatiotemporal frequency characteristics of visual processing for each of these pathways, the actual eye movement responses could be well reproduced. The present results suggest that two parallel visuomotor pathways with different visual characteristics are involved in controlling human optokinetic responses.
