Abstract(in English) | Recently,demands of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV), especially a drone are rapidly spreading for wide variety of applications. However, drone’s flying time must be the most serious problem because a flying time of current drones is limited. In order to solve this problem this study focuses on Wireless Power Transfer(WPT) technology to recharge battery on a drone. In particular, a microwave transmission scheme of WPT can be selected because it is capable of long-distance power transmission. In WPT to recharge a on board battery, beamforming of transmitting antenna for WPT should be optimized considering angle, distance and fractuation of drone due to winds and mechanism of controlling drone. This study proposes a scheme of adaptive beamforming to control beam width of transmitting array antenna according to angle and distance between a drone and transmitting antenna of WPT. Fractuation of drone is taken into account for such adaptive controlling beam width. The greater transfering distance is, the smaller the error of the angle between drone and main beam is. Optimization of beam width is derived for most effectively power transfer corresponding to angle error. Performance improvement of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by computer simulation in comparison with conventional scheme. |
