Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we propose an adaptive control of step size in update of the activation probability in our previously reported online probabilistic activation/deactivation control of pico-base stations (BSs) in heterogeneous networks where low transmission-power pico-BSs are overlaid onto a high transmission-power macro-BS. In the reported method, each pico-BSs independently and iteratively updates the activation probability based on the time variation of the network-level system throughput, which is shared by BSs by using the inter-BS information exchange, and the transition result of activation/deactivation states at each pico-BSs. However, the previous work assumed a fixed step size in update of the activation probability. Therefore, there is a room to improve the convergence property of the iterative algorithm. The proposed method adaptively changes the step size in update of the activation probability depending on variation of system throughput levels, which results in the improvement in convergence rate of the iterative algorithm and increase in the system throughput after convergence. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method quantitatively by computer simulation. |
