Improving Convergence Rate of Frequency Block-Dependent Online Probabilistic Activation Control of Base Stations Based on Observed System Throughput in Heterogeneous Networks

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose an improved method of online probabilistic frequency block-dependent activation/deactivation control at pico-base stations (BSs) in heterogeneous networks in order to improve the convergence rate of the iterative algorithm. Our previously reported method iteratively updates the activation/deactivation states of respective frequency blocks in probabilistic manner at each pico-BSs based on the change in the observed system throughput and activation/deactivation states of that BS between the past two consecutive discrete time. In the proposed method, by using the system throughput observations and corresponding activation/deactivation states for wider range of past time window, we improve the convergence rate of the iterative algorithm of the probabilistic frequency block-dependent activation/deactivation control. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method quantitatively by computer simulation considering the user mobility.
