Low-Complexity Code Search Method for Turbo Trellis-Coded Spatial Modulation Using Symbol-based EXIT Charts

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a low-complexity code search method for spatial modulation with turbo trellis-coding (SM-TTC) using symbol-based extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart. The proposed search method predicts the bit error rate (BER) performance of each generator polynomial (GP) of convolutional codes by employing the area obtained from EXIT chart instead of tracking EXIT trajectory and finds the GP with the lower BER. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the proposed search method can reduce the computational complexity of GP search by using the bisection method. We show that our SM-TTC using the best GP found by our method outperforms conventional codes for transmission over Rayleigh fading and spatially correlated (SC) channels via computer simulations.
