Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Voice-output communication aid (VOCA) is one of the assistive devices supporting communication of children with speech development disorders. Our research group has been developing a more versatile VOCA, named ”web-based versatile communication support system VCAN”. Its prominent feature is that supporters such as parents and speech therapist can flexibly customize the position and size of buttons and hierarchical structure on the web. Then, the system should have a high operationality and usability, but presently it’s not easy to customize or update it when its structure becomes complicated. In order to improve its usability, we analyzed the structures of aid VCAN in use as well as carried out a questionnaire survey on additional functions required. Empirical results suggested that the structure of the aid tended to be complicated when used for language trainings and a voice-recording function is strongly required as an additional function. |
