Robust Image Smoothing Based on Gradient Range Constraints

Abstract(in English) Image smoothing methods based on optimization, are widely useful for some important applications, e.g., contrast enhancement, tone-mapping, denoising, and so on. However, the output images obtained by conventional smoothing methods have undesirable artifacts such as pseudo-edges and color shift. In this paper, we propose a robust image smoothing method based on gradient range constraints, which suppress these artifacts. Experimental results demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method over several conventional methods.
