Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Aiming at speech visualization using textures or finding texture generation scheme from sentiment information embedded in speech, we analyzed speech-to-texture sentiment association characteristics in this study. For the speech, we used single vowel utterances with three different phonations (modal, creaky and breathy) to understand voice source differences and asked 40 subjects to select a texture image among 36 texture images based on their perceptual impressions after listening to each vowel sound. For the scientific understanding of cross-modal correlations between speech and texture, we employed speech source features representing voice source characteristics and image texture features showing textural characteristics. After conducting sentiment analysis, we have found significant correlations between voice source acoustic parameters and textural parameters which suggest a possibility for visualization of sentiment information embedded in speech.
