VCM System with Only Variable Modulation Scheduling According to Satellite Elevation Angle

Abstract(in English) Recently, researches and developments of higher-order modulation and broadband telecommunication systems become more intensive in order to correspond to an increasing the capacity of observation data associated with the high performance of earth observation satellites. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has historically developed higher-order modulation and broadband telecommunication systems in the ALOS-2 satellite and so on. In order to further increase the data rate, we are working on the research and development of the Ka-band Direct Transmission (DT) system with higher-order modulation (32 APSK) based on the DVB-S2 standard. In this system, link feasibility at low elevation angles and applicability of high coding gain error correction code are issues. As the result of analysis and experimental evaluation to these issues, we found that high-speed VCM system based on the DVB-S2 standard with only variable modulation scheduling and the coding rate of 5/6 was suitable DT system.
