[Poster Presentation] Physical Activity Measurement and Analysis Using Accelerometer Sensors and Body Area Network for Wheelchair Users

Abstract(in English) In recent years, it has been pointed out that the decrease of the physical activity level of patients with lower limb paralysis may causes systemic symptoms. It is well studied that measure and analyze physical activity of the patients while they are rehabilitating. However, the measurement and analysis are quite difficult to be performed in their daily life such as home and work place. In our research with collaborated with rehabilitation hospital, we developed a physical activity monitoring system by using multiple accelerometers on both ob the patient and wheelchair. These acceleration data is transmitted by dependable Body Area Network (BAN) which is designed to be used to medical purpose and standardized. In this report, we explain more detail of developed physical activity measurement system and the results of experiment to measurement of number of acceleration and position (sitting or lying) of the patient.
