Abstract(in English) This paper presents an implementation and evaluation of a time-aware shaper, a traffic shaper specifically designed for time-sensitive networks, by using a time-based transmission scheme. The traffic shaper prefetches scheduling information based on the IEEE 802.1Qbv standard in advance. With the scheduling information, the shaper precisely controls the time when it should start transmission of each Ethernet frame, especially in a highly punctual manner. Evaluation results show that the proposed shaper triggers transmission of each frame at its intended timing in accordance with a predetermined scheduling information. Results also show that the proposed shaper can effectively handle both real-time and best-effort traffic at the same time. In particular, the shaper significantly reduces jitter of time-sensitive streams when compared to a baseline case, while handling a high-throughput best-effort stream.
