Abstract(in English) | Heterogeneous Networks are radio access networks that base stations with smaller communication range (small base stations: SBSs) are deployed within an area covered by base stations with larger communication range (macro base stations: MBSs). In this article, we consider a base station switching problem, where SBSs are switched on/off according to the number of users within the communication range of an MBS, and propose a dynamic base station switching scheme combined with a change-point detection scheme that detects time instants when statistics of the number of users are changed. In the proposed scheme, when the change-point detection cheme detects an increase of the number of users, the numbers of users within communication range of SBSs are estimated, and in order to offload some users in the MBS, SBSs are switched on in a descending order of the number of users to be offloaded. On the other hand, when it detects a decrease of the number of users, in order to reduce energy consumption, SBSs with the small numbers of users are switched off. We validate the proposed scheme with simulation experiments. |
