An estimation of secondary radiation pattern for predicting outdoor to indoor radio propagation characteristics

Abstract(in English) A numerical method combined ray-tracing technique with geometrical optic approximation is proposed and used for estimating radio interference from outdoor cell to indoor cell. However, the geometrical optic approximation needs large computation cost due to integration of electrical field on aperture plane. In this study, a window aperture is assumed as a kind of aperture antennas, and the radiation characteristics of aperture antenna that has the electrical field distribution generated by the field arrived from outdoor space are applied as the re-radiation pattern from the window aperture. The formula of radiation pattern from a window aperture are presented for predicting outdoor to indoor radio propagation characteristics, and some experimental results of radiation characteristics from an aperture on a metal screen set in an anechoic chamber are also presented. This study investigates the usefulness of reradiated pattern for predicting outdoor to indoor radio propagation by comparing calculated results with experiments.
