Abstract(in English) Satellite communication has attracted attention as an effective means of communication during the flight of the aircraft. National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) has developed an aeronautical earth station equipped with the antenna system for automatic tracking for the Wideband InterNetworking engineering test and Demonstration Satellite "KIZUNA" (WINDS), it has become possible to build a satellite line while moving. The influence of rain fade attenuation rate at the Ka band will be very much higher than at the Ku band. There is many reports of measurements rain attenuation on ground, however not much reported reports of measuring attenuation characteristics due to clouds. In this paper, we report the result of the flight experiment for measurements of attenuation due to clouds in Ka-band satellite communications.
