Abstract(in English) | Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a new imaging technology that can non-invasively visualize blood vessels inside biological tissues, and it has been gaining attention since the visualized blood vessel structures relate to various diseases such as cancer. In the process of imaging large body parts through multi-scan fusion, the patient often moves during scanning, and it makes the image quality deteriorated. Therefore, accurate alignment of multiple shot volumes is required to improve the image quality. However, current methods do not work well for aligning the shot volumes because of severe noise and corruption. In this paper, we propose a novel registration method that achieves better alignment while effectively decomposing the shot volumes into the low-rank foreground (blood vessels), dense background (noise), and sparse complement (corruption) components. The results of experiments using a challenging real dataset demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method, which significantly improved image quality, and had the best alignment accuracy among the state-of-the-art methods tested. |
