Abstract(in English) Mode dependent coefficient scan (MDCS) was introduced to HEVC that identifies a coefficient scan order in transformed residual signal with an intra prediction mode to improve video coding efficiency. The best scan order is, however, not always selected by MDCS for non-square block used in Joint Exploration Test Model (JEM) that is the reference software of future video coding. The reason is that the conventional MDCS is designed only for square blocks. In this manuscript, we propose the modified MDCS for non-square block
