Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Thanks to the introduction of commercial light field cameras, it has become easy to acquire multi-view images of a target scene only with a single shot. These multi-view images are dense, which means that the intervals among the viewpoints are very small compared to those acquired with conventional multiple cameras. To efficiently compress such a dense set of multi-view images, we proposed a new scheme in which these images are represented using weighted binary patterns. The main advantage of our scheme is its extreme simplicity in decoding. Moreover, our encoding scheme can be made scalable, which leads to a significant reduction of the computational cost. In our previous publications, we demonstrated that our method can achieve a good rate-distortion performance that is comparable to those of modern video codecs such as HEVC, if the resolution of images is limited to 160 x 120. In this paper, we evaluated our method on a higher resolution (624 x 434) using a few datasets acquired with a Lytro Illum camera. |
