| Abstract(in English) | Traffic demands between data centers located across the globe are continuously growing with the widespread use of various cloud services. Optical submarine cables connecting different continents play a crucial part as a global telecommunication infrastructure. Optical submarine cables are conventionally installed as full turn-key systems, where both optical submarine cables and terminal equipment are supplied from the same vendor. Recently, there have been discussions to make optical submarine networks more open, such as the Open Cable and the convergence of terrestrial and submarine optical networks, mainly driven by service providers of data center interconnects. In this paper, we propose a path assignment algorithm to improve the utilization efficiency of open optical submarine cables. And we also quantitatively evaluate the improvement of the utilization efficiency on the Google B4 model interconnecting globally distributed data centers. |
