Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Physical contact (PC) connectors are widely used in optical telecommunication networks because of their high performance and high reliability. PC connection suppressed Fresnel reflection between fiber endfaces is realized by elastically deformed spherical convex polished ferrule ends. And split sleeves are widely used in optical networks because the reproducibility of alignment technology is good. However, it is still unclear about the microscopic deformation about split sleeves and ferrule endfaces because of their measurement and analysis difficulties. In this study, ferrule endface deformation include the circumference region by Finite Element Method (FEM) and return loss measurement of multicore fiber connectors. The microscopic deformation of split sleeves inserted two angled PC polished ferrules was also analyzed using FEM and confirmed by measurement of Angled PC (APC) connectors attenuation with various split direction.
