Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Aiming toward automatic title generation, we investigated the patterns in the titles of "Kikuzo II", a newspaper article database provided by the Asahi Shimbun Company. The analysis results indicated that the titles were likely to contain named entities of the place in the latter part of the title and that titles could be generated through processes such as excluding the postpositional particles. By analyzing the frequent patterns of named entities in the titles and the patterns based on the predicate argument structure, we organized the problem of automatic title generation from the perspective of selecting information to be included in the title and generating high-quality titles.
