Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, mobile data traffic is rapidly growing due to the spread of smartphone/tablets and various mobile application services and 2020’s data traffic will be 1000 times higher than 2010’s data traffic. To accommodate the rapid growing of mobile data traffic and various mobile application services, it is expected that the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication system which dramatically improves the capability of the radio access network will be introduced. In addition, research and development are promoted for commercial service starting 2020. In this technical exhibition, as NTT DOCOMO’s activities for 5G realization, progress status of transmission experiments, that is, 5G experimental trials exploiting higher frequency bands such as SHF/EHF bands for verifying potential of 5G radio access technologies is introduced. Moreover, overview of 5G system trials to create new services and application in the 5G era in collaboration with other (vertical) industries is shown.
