Preventing Function from Billing Fraud for Elderly People using BLE Beacons and Smartphone

Abstract(in English) In 2016, the number of billing frauds was 14,151, a record high, in which the victims of elderly people occupied 78%. Prevention of billing fraud for elderly people is important issue. The methods of paying money for elderly people who have suffered a billing fraud, are using an ATM, a cash register of a convenience store. We pay attention to an ATM payment that can be done by one person, and consider the prevention methods from the fraud damage. The purpose of this study is to develop the preventing function from billing fraud using the BLE beacons and some sensors of their smartphones. As a preventing function from billing fraud for the elderly people in front of the ATM machine using their smartphone, we have implemented notification of abnormality by vibrations, showing the “Text” notification, and sending a mail to their family members. As a result of the experiment, preventing function from billing fraud by using smartphone is confirmed.
