| Abstract(in English) | In this work, we present a learning method that allows beginner-level L2 learners to leverage their dead time, such as when walking to and from school or work, to study new vocabulary items. We introduce a smartphone application which combines location-based contextually relevant L1-L2 word pairs (Japanese-Spanish) and audio learning to allow learners to “discover” new foreign language words while walking. We report on the evaluation of the approach for beginner-level second language vocabulary acquisition. |
