Abstract(in English) | The authors have studied a multiband wireless LAN which can effectively detect and exploit unused radio resources scattered in time and frequency domains. This paper proposes a channel access protocol of the multiband wireless LAN. In the proposed protocol, each node selects one of three transmission schemes (asynchronous transmission on multiple channels, simultaneous transmission on multiple channels, and single channel transmission) according to the level of inter-channel interference and availability of transmission opportunity on multiple channels. This paper also proposes a hardware structure of the multiband wireless LAN without significant increase of hardware complexity compared with that of the conventional wireless LAN supporting MIMO transmission. Through computer simulations, it is confirmed that the multiband wireless LAN can achieve higher average area throughput than the conventional wireless LAN with the same number of RF ports. |
