A Study of Comparison of Smart Phone Devices on Gait Recognition Using Devices Accelerometer

Abstract(in English) In this study, we compare gait recognition by some smart phone devices. We first collect 3-axes acceleration data for 19 subjects in 2 walking states (in the pocket, and looking on the screen) using 3 different devices. We extracted 49 features from the acceleration data of all the recorded gait data. We then select the subset of the 49 features and identify subject using random forest. The result shows that the accuracies of each device are different. The reason probably is that the sampling rates of 3 devices are different. We suggest that high gait recognition requires sufficient acceleration sampling.
