Study on Evaluation of Water Management System for Pear Cultivation

Abstract(in English) Agriculture is one of the most fundamental industries supporting our meals. In agricultural work, irrigation is a big burden on farmers, because they have to visit their farm to make a judgment of irrigation necessity almost every day. Introduction of an irrigation system based on ICT (Information and Communications Technology) is needed to alleviate the farmer’s burden. In this paper, a water management system based on the farmer’s working records is proposed for a kind of pear “Le Lectier”, that is a brand food of Niigata prefecture. Farmers’ know-how is extracted as the irrigation judgement conditions based on sensing data and framework records collected in the actual pear fields. A laboratory irrigation control system is constructed by use of these conditions. Finally, application of a reinforcement learning method to the system is proposed as a future extension.
