Abstract(in English) | Recently, three dimensional CT volumes are widely used in treatment and diagnosis. Development of a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system that supports medical doctor's diagnosis is greatly expected. CAD systems need accurate automatic organ recognition from CT volumes. In this study, we propose a method for organ region localization using a CNN regression framework. CNN enables us to estimate position based on automatically designed feature values. 2D patches are clipped from CT volumes on axial, coronal, sagittal planes and combined to generate a patch. Offsets from the center of cropped patches to the bounding box is calculated as target values. Patches are given to CNN and differences between output values and the offsets is used as a loss. Weights of the network is determined to minimize the loss. Experiments were performed on 147 CT volumes and evaluated using the two-fold cross-validation method. Experimental results demonstrated that the mean errors of bounding box estimation of the proposed method was 9.2 mm. |
