Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we report evaluation results of the organ surface reconstruction method from stereo laparoscopic images. We have developed an organ surface reconstruction method using multiple frames. This method estimated a camera pose change between two consecutive frames. Reconstructed organ surfaces at each frame are aligned using the estimated camera pose changes. However, the aligned organ surface are often increased in thickness because of the reconstraction error at each frames and alignment error. Therefore, we add an integration process to the previous method to solve this problem. This integration process extracts reconstructed points in an overlapped region from the multiple aligned organ surfaces and compute the median of these points along a depth direction. We applied the proposed method to stereo laparoscopic images of a stomach phantom model. We used a phantom surface obtained by a 3D scanner as the ground truth. The number of reconstructed points from 181 frames was 6,494 points. These points were located in 1.40 ± 1.07 mm from the ground truth phantom surface.
