Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper argues that not all of the [Adjective + Noun] formed synaesthetic metaphors (e.g. sweet voice, loud colours, etc.) are synaesthetic metaphors due to their non-synaesthetic and non-metaphoric natures. They are in fact neurophysiologically integrated and purely reflected on multimodal sensory expressions that encode our integrated multimodal senses before coming out from our lexicon. The analysis is based upon Japanese. The relations between modifiers and modifiees, and their modification structures are examined compared with the other normal modification structures.
