[Poster Presentation] Horizontal sound localization with binaural signals obtained by numerical simulation and experiment

Abstract(in English) In this study, horizontal sound localizations experiments with binaural signals obtained by experiments and numerical simulations are examined. The binaural signals are generated by head related impulse responses (HRIRs) obtained by experiments, and calculated by the wave-based simulation method and the ray-tracing method. It is found that typical head related transfer functions (HRTFs) can be obtained up to 10 kHz for experiments and simulations. The horizontal sound localization experiments are then examined with two HRIRs obtained by experiments and three HRIRs obtained by calculation. The significant difference is observed by t-test in the results between the HRIRs obtained by the experiment and the wave-based simulation. This is due to the influence of experimental accuracy. However, the significant differences are not observed in the horizontal sound localization experiments between the other HRIRs, including experiments and calculations. So it is considered to be sufficiently usable even with HRIR by calculation.
