Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigated spectral characteristics of temporal bone (TB) and ear canal (EC) components of bone-conducted speech (BC), to clarify the BC transmission process. Firstly, speakers' air-conducted (AC) speech, TB vibration, and EC radiated speech of 5 vowel utterances were recorded and their spectral envelopes were analyzed using cepstrum method and linear prediction analysis. The results showed that spectral shapes derived from TB vibration and EC speech are different each other. Secondly, AC speech, TB vibration and EC speech during sentence-reading were recorded and their long-term average spectra (LTAS) were analyzed. The results showed that both TB vibration and EC speech have a dominant component in lower frequency region compared to AC speech. Lastly, voice source characteristics in each LTAS were compensated, to estimate the transmission characteristics from their larynxes to the observation positions. The results showed that larynx-to-TB transmission emphasizes the frequency components below 2 kHz, and larynx-to-EC transmission emphasizes the components between 1.5 and 3 kHz. From these results, it was indicated that the outer ear part of BC might contribute to perception of higher frequency components and the other parts of BC might contribute to perception of lower frequency components.
