| Abstract(in English) | Traffic accidents and troubles due to tailgating which shortens inter-vehicular distance on highway and general road have become conspicuous and a social problem. The behavior and gaze characteristics of the drivers of the following car and the preceding car are measured and compared between tailgating and normal driving. It was confirmed that the gaze direction of the driver of tailgating (following) car concentrated on the preceding car. On other hand, the driver of preceding car saw the tailgating car by rearview mirrors more frequently. In the case of tailgating, both drivers are negligent of forward or right and left confirmation. So tailgating is very dangerous. |
