[Poster Presentation] Acoustic properties of vowel produced under environments with different reberberation time

Abstract(in English) In order to investigate speechmodifications under reverberant environments, and relationships between themodifications and speech intelligibility in reverberant environments, acoustic analyses were performed for vowel parts produced by a male speaker in 4 reverberant environments. The results showed that F1 and F2 frequencies shift in addition to decrease/increase speech level, lengthening of duration depending on the reverberant environments. The F1 and F2 shifting showed different pattern by vowel type. It indicates that acoustic/articulatory features of each vowel became clearer. It is suggested that speech produced under reverberant environments is hyper-articulated speech (i.e., clear speech) with less coarticulation and steeper formant transitions which can contribute to speech intelligibility in reverberant environments.
