Evaluation of synchronization jitter caused by the distance from base-station on optical wireless RVC system using CSK-MPPM

Abstract(in English) The author already proposed the hierarchical CSK-MPPM system for road-to-vehicle communication in optical wireless communications. The CSK-MPPM system can transmit several types of data simultaneously because the system unites code shift keying (CSK) and multi-pulse pulse position modulation (MPPM). The bit error rate of the CSK-MPPM system under the complete synchronization state and the influence of the synchronization jitter on the CSK-MPPM quality is evaluated previously. In this paper, the symbol error rate of the CSK-MPPM system taking into account attenuation of the signal and synchronization error is evaluated by computer simulation.The extended pseudo-orthogonal M-sequence(EPOM) is used as the pseudo-noise code for CSK. Although the symbol error rate performance of CSK is better than that of MPPM under the complete synchronization state, SER of MPPM becomes better than that of CSK when as the distance is larger from the roadside base station. It is found that MPPM is suitable for the long distance communication because signal-to-noise ratio deteriorates with synchronization error.
