A Study of Response Time Analysis of Controller Area Networks

Abstract(in English) A number of methods have been proposed for response time analysis of CAN, which is an industry standard of in-vehicle network protocol. However, most of them are not suitable for analysis of event-triggered communication protocol because they are targeted for time-triggered one. To tackle this issue, we propose a method of response time analysis especially for event-triggered communication protocol. The purpose of this approach is to find an approximate probability distribution of response time for any message frame. To that end, we describe an analysis model using queuing theory. Furthermore, we obtain the initial distribution of number of messages in the model and the distributions on delay times. Then, a desired distribution of response time is obtained by numerical calculation based on that model. Finally, we operate numerical calculations using the benchmarks to show that the proposed method can be operated with computation time of several-several tens of seconds regardless of the size of the network.
