Abstract(in English) | Wireless sensor networks(WSN) which employ a large number of wireless sensor nodes to monitor physical or environmental conditions have attracted many attentions. Because the open nature of the wireless communication, WSN will face security issues. Wormhole attack is one of the most serious attacks against WSN, since wormholes are created with regular routing procedure. In order to achieve reliable data transfer, a secure acknowledgment is crucial in wireless communication. However, protection for Ack messages are often disregarded due to theresource contraint for WSN nodes. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a Ack message authentication for the practical WSN. We use a challenge-response scheme to prevent attacks replaying the past Ack messages. Usually wireless sensor nodes are required long life time with small size batteries or solar panels, and they periodically sleep in order to reduce power consumption. Our implementation fits for such a duty-cycling WSN, and changes Ack messages for every data transmission. |
