Abstract(in English) | Currently used spaces of facial expressions were psychological spaces built with subjective evaluation data such as SD scores, which have no direct correspondence with physical stimuli. To construct a facial expression space based from facial expression images using metrics of expression discrimination thresholds, it is possible to obtain a psychophysical expression space. Nowadays, facial expressions are represented by categories such as combinations of basic expressions with various weights which are qualitative representations in nature. Here we aimed to built a quantitative representation of facial expressions whose special coordinate values corresponding to physical stimulus and independent of categories. In this paper, we use facial expression discrimination thresholds measured from variations of facial expressions to define the expressive space as Riemann space with metric given by facial expression discrimination ellipse. We then construct, consider the Riemannian coordinate system of the expression space and discuss intrinsic geometry of the space. |
