Evaluation of Dynamic-duplex Cellular System on LTE Downlink under Macro-cell Environment

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a dynamic-duplex cellular (DDC) system that adds an uplink (UL) communication to the downlink (DL) subframe and/or vice versa in the time-division duplex (TDD) system. The proposed DDC system enables in-band full-duplex (IBFD) in the current long-term evolution (LTE) system and enhances communication capacity without remarkable throughput degradation by pairing user equipments (UEs) without interference to each other and controlling transmission power of base station (BS) and UE. This scheduling scheme allows the coexistence of the DDC and LTE systems, enabling the transition to the full-scale DDC system in stages. We also evaluate the proposed DDC system by the system level simulation, assuming the case that a new UL communication is added to a DL subframe in the LTE system under the macro-cell environment. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DDC scheme can increase UL throughput without significant deterioration of DL throughput.
