Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Research and development of automated driving technologies have been actively conducted aiming at safer and efficient mobility. Automated driving car needs various sensors such as optical camera, millimeter-wave radar, and LIDAR (Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging) for surrounding environment recognition. Millimeter-wave FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar is one of the promising solutions since it can simultaneously detect the relative distance and moving speed of the target with high distance resolution, and it has better detection performance in rainy, foggy or dark environments. However, when a number of automated driving cars equipped with multiple FMCW radars are deployed in future, inter-radar interference can cause false-detection and miss-detection of the target due to SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) degradation. In order to solve the problems of false-detection caused by inter-radar interference, this report describes design and performance of a carrier sensing technique to detect radar signal for multiple access FMCW radars which transmits radar signals by detecting no other FMCW radars are transmitting radar signals.
