Abstract(in English) | Evaluation of muscle contraction during dynamic exercise was investigated using the MMG/EMG hybrid transducer that could simultaneously measure electromyogram (EMG) and mechanomyogram (MMG). In this study, we proposed an evaluation of muscle contraction by changing the pedaling load of cycling wheelchair. The volunteers were three healthy adult males (60s, 30s, and 20s). As a result, the EMG and displacement MMG signals were stably recorded even during dynamic pedaling exercise. The dMMGFT obtained by frequency analysis of displacement MMG increased with pedaling load remarkably. In addition, there was a strong correlation between the EMGFT (obtained from frequency analysis of EMG) normalized by maximum EMGFT and dMMGFT normalized by passive exercise (without an active pedaling). This result suggested that the muscle contraction could be evaluated in detail by simultaneous measurement of MMG and EMG using the MMG / EMG hybrid transducer. |
