Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, with the rapid spread of smart devices, such as smart-phones and tablet PCs, biometric authentication using biometric information that can be acquired from the sensors in smart devices has attracted much attention as a person authentication technology for smart devices. However, in user authentication on smartdevices, it is necessary to consider degradation in verification accuracy caused by the difference in usage environments because the devices are highly portable and can be used in various environments. Therefore, in this paper, as a way to deal with this problem, paying attention to “Context Awareness” which is the concept of recognizing the situation and change of people and things, we focus on a context-awareness-based multifactor authentication system and discuss some technical issues to realize the system. Especially, for the realization of an authentication system that is robust against the variation in usage environments, we propose some methods to deal with each function of the authentication system appropriately by using the usage environment recognition function of the system. We also report the effectiveness of the proposed methods based on some simulation experiment results using real biometric data.
